I believe it would be totally fine in a pot in your zone. I saw one today. Lovely foliage on that rose.

Use a big tub, that doesn't freeze up like a brick in winter. Small plants of this cultivar can be quite twiggy, even later it may tend to be shrubby with many horizontal branches. The thorns on this one are like little fish hooks. You may end up doing battle with it if you try to train it into a confined area. The growth behavior does vary, some specimens produce fewer, more conventional climbing rose stems from early on after planting.
