Eucryphias form a protective nodule of resin over all terminal leaf-buds during the fall. These nodules dissolve during leaf-break in the spring.

This is the first I have seen this phenomenon--foaming of the resin in extreme heat (86, 97, 95 degrees past 3 days). In the fading light yesterday, it looked like spittlebugs from a distance, but when I examined it this morning, no bugs were there! The foam is very sticky and requires repeated use of Lava Soap to remove from one's hands. The foam appears to be too flimsy to cause the new growth to be distorted.

I would like more weather options this month besides 60- or 90+ degrees!
