Timing would suggest they got too wet last November. However, multiple destructive agents target lilies. Maybe dig around and see what's left. You may find something you didn't expect.

I can do that, just kept hoping they'd sprout...

The last of my Excelsior (oriental) lilies showed up two days ago. There's a 15" difference in height between the first and last to sprout.

Four major lily failure modes to watch out for:
1. Lily virus: mottled, striped foliage; bulbs eventually weaken and disappear. No cure.
2. Basal rot: soil around the bulb is too warm and wet in summer; base of bulb rots, bulb is destroyed. Keep soil shaded with mulch and companion plants, don't overwater in summer.
3. Slugs eat emerging shoots underground in spring. You can't see the slugs, and the shoots never emerge from the soil. With luck, the bulb will survive until next spring, but it won't make another shoot this year.
4. Rodents eat bulbs in winter. You can usually see evidence of underground runs when you dig down to where the bulb was.
