Foam appearing on Lavender

Hi,

Haven't had a chance to go through my garden books yet, but has anyone had a problem with little foamy areas appearing on the joints of the stems or under the leaves of Lavender? I've just been hosing it off and wondered if it was just a characteristic of the plant, or am I completely forgetting something from what I've read on pests?

i think you may have spittle bugs. if you poke around in the foam, i bet you'd find a little green insect.

Thanks! I thought I remembered something about that back in the recesses of my brain (grin)Perfect name for it, yuk, as it did look like someone spit on my poor plants.

Ellen, better you think of it as spit than acknowledging which end of the bug it really comes from :)
