I just bought a Schizophragma Hydrangea 'Piatt Dwarf'

for my ONE North facing wall along the garage.

Does anyone know how tall these dwarf varieties grow? All I can find is "smaller than regular species" which is 30 40 feet(regular). I am hoping it will at least grow to 20 feet? I'd like it to grow up to the roof line. They also say it is slow growing- how many years will I have to wait to see? (grin)

Any ideas on companion plants for my one shady spot? I am going to put the climbing hydrangea in the middle and wanted some kind of flowering vine on either side, but the nursery didn't really have any real suggestions. I will probably plant some regular hydrangeas as well, probably some hostas...

I'd love any information you can give me!! TIA!!

Hi, I don't have the dwarf variety just the regular. What I can tell you is mine is a very slow grower, been in the ground for at least six years and is just now this year putting out noticeable new growth, no flowers yet. I think it must have heard the words shovel prune. Hopefully someone here can jump in with more information for you. I may be wrong but possibly they are all slow growers so I wouldn't plant anything too vigorous close until it's established and doing it's thing.

You can get information about this cultivar if you search for its true name: "Platt Dwarf".

Just not any "grow to" heights!! Everything I see just lists the common regular one.

All plants I have seen sold under this cultivar name were actually climbing hydrangeas.
