That's a photo of an oriental poppy, Papaver orientale. They don't come in blue :-) And they don't change color although exact coloration can vary depending on light conditions and the cultivar. And self-sown seedlings will not necessarily come true to the parent plant. There are a number of selections that offer that pale blushed white/pink color. That one could be 'Perry's White' or 'Maiden's Blush'.

The blue poppies, species of Himalayan meconopsis, can show some variation in coloring depending on species/cultivar.....anywhere from a silvery blue to a pinky mauve/lilac to a distinct sky blue. There are also species that bloom yellow and red. But that is not the plant your photo indicates.

I guess I planted the blue poppy in another bed and I have the orange/red Oriental poppies elsewhere, but THIS one -- absolutely a nothing colour. It must be a self seeded one. Certainly not worth keeping!

You don't like that color?? I think it's fabulous! The standard orange-red ones I really don't like though.

Poppies self-seed readily but the seedlings are usually that garish orange-red. People pay good money for the pale lavender you've got.

And in my patch of Meconopsis betonicifolia I have one that is blooming pure white with yellow stamens this year!

I like the insipid mauve one much, much better than the garish red and orange ones...:)

I like it, too. Finally got rid of all the red and orange ones--now I have this color! They don't last long but there are babies so if I need the space, I just dig it out knowing it'll live on...this is last year's bloom.

I love all poppies.
