Let me clarify. I am referring to snap bush beans, 55 days, for fall harvest. I know there are other beans to plant this time of year for spring harvest.

Maybe the weather will surprise us and stay warmer longer? It surely isn't predictable. I planted some beans and lots of greens right before the 15th, they are growing well so far. Contender is one bean I started, it has a DTM in the 40's.

For greens, Wild red Kale makes it through the winter well, and I like mustard greens and collards. I frequently leave turnips in the ground since they make a nice early spring green.

Some kind of tunnel or plastic could extend the season some, and perhaps make a difference in getting some beans. A problem I have had is that when fall starts, often the weather changes dramatically to colder and wetter and shuts down the plant growth.

Yeah if there is any justice in the world we will have a nice long summer. I didn't know there were beans that matured that quick, sounds like I should find some Contender seeds.

I do have a greenhouse so if I pot up the beans I can move them there later on...thank you Nancy, happy gardening.
