Yes, I would say it is a Poppy, probably an annual one. Go back in a few weeks and gather some pods after they have dried and plant them early Spring.

It looks like a peony Poppy I grew a black variety, it was gorgeous. You can find seeds for a variety of colors from most companies. They bloom in late spring and will continue to bloom sporadically if you deadhead. If you leave the seed pods they will reseed happily. Swing back by and watch for the seed pods and ask if you can take one. They will bloom from seed quite well.

It looks like Papaver x intermedium. ....an perennial heirloom poppy that spreads mainly through underground rooting.It is not the easiest plant to move...it took me several tries to get the starter for my patch....in addition it is also fairly sulky about starting from seed.Try gathering the seed pods or take a shovel with you next time you are down that way.....or perhaps contact the owner of the fence that I see in the background. Since the poppy is a spreader, there should be more on the other side. I have to trim the size of my patch down every year to keep it from taking up too much space.

so pretty, i too would say a poppy. i love the poppies as they grow so easy once seeded in spring. If you get a pod of seeds and have spares, let me know! :-)
