Varies with the cultivar. Which one is it?

There certainly are some hardy fuchsias with miniature growth and flowers. Can you tell us the name of the one you got? Was it labeled as hardy?

Once I learned the secret (don't prune in fall, wait until spring) I've done really well with hardy fuchsias.

It does not say what variety it is - only miniature fuschia - magenta of flowers - 6 inches tall - zone 7-8. I thought zone 7-8 was safe but not sure how safe.

Probably a hardy. They want more sun than the hanging basket fuchsias. Plant it deeper than it is in the pot and use mulch. When it drops it's leaves after frost don't prune it down. Wait until next spring when you see new growth. They start new growth late. You'll think it is dead but it isn't. I have over a dozen hardy fuchsias in pots and planted and they are little blooming machines.
