Now you get to enjoy the really fun part, ambling about various exotic nurseries and picking a spectacular plant for that particular spot, just one easy planting at a time. When you're feeling relaxed and adventurous go to Cistus and Hugh's Water Garden. Ooooolala!

Spectacular to say the least, the rock work amazing, When I think of moving all that weight around...and then positioning it into just the right place, takes a lot of talent. One question, how can you bear to leave this little piece of paradise for any length of time. It's drop dead gorgeous. Love the fish in it's sea of Campanula.

My wife's been whining about that but I just keep telling her that we can go somewhere as soon as I get all the big stuff done. I would prefer to just sit by the pond with an ice cold Carona after being on the road all day. There's also a three tiered fountain about 20' away in the front yard so it is quite relaxing. I'm in the process of planning a flagstone path in front of the pond so I can get it in this winter. Come spring she's already got a trip to Arizona and another to South Dakota planned. She's been real good about not cutting the purse strings so I can't argue to loudly :-)

I love the gate! Did you create the center medallion yourself? It will look even better when it acquires some patina -- in our part of the world, I'd give it about two months!

Your pond looks to be about 4 feet deep. Are you keeping any koi? Might make a good excuse for getting out of some trips away from your urban paradise. I'd love to go, honey, but someone's got to stay and feed little Yamabuki and Doitsu! ;Great job,

Rain

I hunted around for the centerpiece and found it at Squak Mtn. I then painted it copper and designed the rest of the gate around it. I sprayed it all with acrylic so it wouldn't patina. The same goes for the horizontals in the regular fence sections. I wanted it to stay bright to go with the amber glass post caps. The fence sections were all designed and built first so I wanted the gate to continue the theme. The front yard is framed with this same fence. Thank God I built them all before the price of copper skyrocketed !

Ooooops, I forgot. The pond is 5' deep with 5 waterfalls and 7,000 GPH and is sprayed in place polyurea. We have 9 Koi and 3 Shabukins that we bought small so they could all grow up together. The pump actually sets up on the deck, this picture is of the main waterfall and the pumphouse.

I was trying to design this little side garden so as to allow access to all my meters, cable boxes, etc when my wife drug me screaming down to Ross Dress for Less. These wrought pieces were about $24 so I used one for a gate and two for each side section.

bos888, I actually started on the pond forum back right after my wife looked at this hideous hillside covered with 3' weeds and said 'I think I'd like a pond. After I dumped in 80,000 lbs of rock, some water and some plants, I came over to this forum to see if I could learn how to do the rest of the project. That was about 1.2 million lbs or so of hardscape ago and I've been here ever since :-)

If you frequent the pond forum, you've likely heard of the guy that sprayed my new pond (like most first time ponders, my first effort was a little less than acceptable so I re-did it.) I have a few more pics uploaded to photobucket but they are too large to be viewed as a slideshow because I didn't shrink them first. I can e-mail you the link if you like, there are various pictures at different stages as I progressed around the yard.

botann, I am about mid hill halfway between Petrovitsky and Kent Kangley. Actually I think I talked to you on a post right after I first started coming here long before I was halfway done. If I remember correctly it was about phlox :-)
