Acer Eskimo Sunset losing variegation

I put the Eskimo in the ground in May with lots of variegation. It is in am sun and afternoon shade, and it seems to be mostly mottled green. Some sources tell me more shade, while others say more sun.

Has anyone grown this tree here? Thanks

I've seen highly colored specimens in sunny positions in Seattle yards. I would give it full sun here.

It's called 'Esk Sunset', after the Esk Valley in New Zealand. The somewhat silly 'Eskimo Sunset' is a mistake, as is "Yukon" for the Japanese flowering cherry cultivar - which I have seen listed more than once in trade publications as "Alaskan yellow cherry".
