I did transplant a few things (a monkshood, some bee balm, and a jacob's ladder), and have been watering the bejabbers out of them, and they seem to be doing okay. Everything else (several things I mistakenly a) thought were tolerant of partial shade and b) thought would be in less shade than they wound up being in when the tree grew much faster than I expected) I cut back (there was a *lot* of foliage flopping all over the place) and have been watering the bejabbers out of those, too. Some of those are already putting new foliage out. Hopefully it won't hurt this late in the season.

So far the only thing I've lost was a transplanted astilbe, and it was pretty crispy when I moved it. So I think things are going to be as okay as I can expect them to be under the circumstances.

I do believe I'll be sowing some perennial seeds this fall...

Astilbes don't really like being transplanted, anyway.
Bee balm actually prefers full sun. They are also prone to powdery mildew, and would especially be in shade.

So I've been told since I moved that bee balm [g]. So I may move it back this fall.

And I guess I'll just keep watering...
