Maple burning

I have a 2 year old Autumn Moon maple in full sun in a very large copper pot on my deck. Even during this relatively mild summer the leaves burned. It is a focal point in my garden and so I would like something in the container that looks great most of the time. The pot is at least 24 "tall and wide.

I was thinking of tiger eye sumac...any other suggestions?

Perhaps consider changing the pot location. A metal pot in full sun can sure boil your roots. Not many will be happy there unless you are a perfect waterer.
