Absolutely fabulous! You did a lot more that just plant -- did you do the fence, trellis, and stonework yourself?

Funny thing, I was just thinking about rescuing my old front yard in Portland in a similar way, or maybe it was a dream as I was waking this morning.

Well done! Looks very good. So much more attractive and productive than before. I am sending your link to our son in Toronto. He and his wife just purchased a home on a small lot with more room in the front yard than the back. They have a small child and our son loves to garden. So, they may be able to do something like you did to create room for gardening and play in the front. Nothing like some good pictures to stimulate ideas!

Your edible garden is lovely. The courtyard and pond make it so much more usable, too. My concern would be based on my yard turning into a jungle, I severely underestimated the growth potential of plants in the PNW, especially in regard to fruit trees, cherry trees in particular, so I hope they are guaranteed to stay small, as my cherries are gargantuan. Your espaliered apple looks nice. I've seen some at the Clark County Fairgrounds that continue to look good over time.
