When's the best time to prune these?

Hi,

Want to make sure I do this right! When is the best time to prune back a

Adonis Blue Butterfly Bush

Lynwood Gold Forsynthia

Rose Bushes

The top two are 3 years old, the rose bushes are pretty old, they were overgrown with huge thorns when we bought the house 3 years ago.

Also, when is the best time to PLANT rose bushes? I've never attempted them before- I would like to try some bushes and maybe some rose type vines, but these would be over a fence dividing me and the neighbors, don't want them to spill over onto their side.....

All would be pruned early next year, the roses and butterfly bush at end of winter (Feb-Mar) and the forsythia as the bloom goes over in spring. Hit a library or bookstore and look at some pruning books to get a better idea of what is involved, including how and where to make pruning cuts. You may also be able to find detailed discussions with diagrams online.

If the butterfly bush is thought to be a pure Buddleja davidii form...
