Shallots question how to?

This year I am going to plant shallots the same way as I plant my garlic.

So my question how deep do you plant it so it gets no winter damage? Or do you cover it? My garlic goes a bit deeper and I don't have to cover never had any problems , but shallots ? What do you say? Thanks
