You need to know what type they are: Main crop or everbearing?

Not sure.... but I think ever-bearing, as they have a great deal of fruit on now, although of course it will not mature. But they did bear mainly in the summer. Any suggestions?

If they are fruiting now and not in late June, they are everbearing and fruit on the current season's growth. You have two choices for pruning -- there is a way to prune to get two crops in one year (sorry, I don't do this so don't know how). Or, chop all of the canes down in February and just look for raspberries next fall. I have some main crop raspberries that give me lots of berries in june/july and these everbearing that crop in the fall. I love raspberries. Perhaps google: pruning everbearing raspberries and you should get lots of advice.

Westgate, I have everbearing raspberries, have had them for several years. I can't stand the long canes and molding berries during the soggy season, so I cut them way down to about 14 inches and watch them regrow in Spring. I've thinned them out ruthlessly, mulch them and give them a dose of long acting fertilizer in spring and enjoy berries all summer and fall. They are very forgiving without any special treatment for winter. Tasty too!
