they have some interesting plants, as they travel around the world and collect many interesting specimens. They do have a Chlorophytum....don't think it's the one u want. However, they may be able to advise you where the one you want is available.

OMG!

Chlorophytum orchidastrum or whatever the correct name might be seems to be one of the most awesome all-purpose houseplants ever and I can't locate one in the US.... That's a shame. isn't it?

Can anybody help me to locate one?

I'd go with seeds, bare-roots or whatever... I just want one or two or three.....

I'm also interested in Aroid and Passiflora-seeds and plants that are suitable for a north-east-facing window with (and now get this) still a good amount of (reflected) light....

I did a Google image search for "orchidastrum" and got a picture of your plant from Glasshouse Works, which means it IS in the US. Plus, I recognized it as something I have seen offered here in my area.

Bboy is right as usual. These plants are often available in the houseplant section of large big-box hardware stores like Lowe's and Home Depot, especially in summer. I've seen them at both for the last couple of years though I've never purchased one.

Ebay.com also has them for auction during the summer months when it's easy for most people to ship houseplants.

Sometimes a "rare" plant gets picked up by a large producer and can then be found at ordinary outlets over a wide area, even though it has not yet become frequent over a wide range of suppliers, including mailorder specialists. There may be a trend toward more of this being the case, as corporate syndicates expand their positions in horticultural production (as elsewhere). It also appears there have even been efforts undertaken on the federal level to allow large outfits to import mass quantities of plants (such as "lucky bamboo") while severely curtailing small operations and individuals.
