There's always cool stuff to see and do at the Pike Place Market.

The Pacific Science Center has an insect exhibit, and a GREAT butterfly house. The insects are mounted, but the butterflies are live. I was just there about a month ago, and this is the best butterfly house I've seen.

Thanks! I have been to Pike Place Market and it's always interesting and fun, but I have neverbeen to the Pacific Science Center - the butterflies would be the perfect antidote to all this WINTER!

I didn't know about the butterflies, thanks. Don't get to recreate much in Seattle, always go for work but might be able to squeeze them in.

Nope, was just too busy and when it was time to go home I wanted to get past Olympia before rush hour started. :(

Oh, and there's the Arboretum which is accessible by bus. City People's is near the south end of the Arboretum. If it's a nice day, take a long walk and explore.

I only had one day, and got to one place, Volunteer Park, which is beautiful. The conservatory is excellent - a great display of bromiliads, ferns, palms, and cacti. We also climbed the old water tower, admired the view, and read about Olmstead, who designed many parks around Seattle, including that one. Seattle has LOTS of parks, what a great city! By the way, the Victoria Clipper is a bargain this season - $90 CA return midweek. Thanks, gotta go there again!
