Will my chickens get sick from eating the corn gluten?

Sorry to post again, but this is somewhat urgent: I used corn gluten yesterday. It rained, but there's still a LOT of the chunks on the lawn. My chickens, who free range, are gobbling it up this morning. Aside from the fact that it's expensive chicken food, do you think it will hurt them? It's a by-product of corn, right, but not actual corn.... I wonder if I should pen them and set sprinklers to try to wash more of into the dirt? The grass is just so low it's very easy for them to see... anyone know if it's 100% safe as feed, or if I should stop them from eating any more?

Yay! I found it after digging through those PDFs you linked. One sentence here: "Corn gluten meal is used in cattle
and poultry feed and in fish and dog
food."

That makes me feel soooo much better. Thanks!

Corn Gluten Meal is an animal food and has been for more years then a growth suppressant. It will not harm your chickens. The link below may provide more information.

Can you point me to where in your link it describes that its safe as an animal feed? It looks to be all information about use as a natural herbicide. I'm familiar with all that. And I know it's technically "safe for pets and kids".... but what I am concerned about is SMALL animals eating LOTS of it. My girls are gording on it....

Look on any bag of dry dog food. It is not the first ingredient but it is one of the first ingredients. When I apply it my dog runs around trying to lick it out of the air. Pretty funny.

My dogs do the same thing, David. When I scatter it chicken feed style, they jump up and get a face full of it.

Any time I use the pelletized CGM, my yard is full of birds for days. It's expensive bird feed but I enjoy watching them. The powdered CGM is much messier to apply but the birds don't get it.

If you moisten the CGM pellets after you apply they should swell and become dust when a bird tries to bite into it.
