can you put that chair in the corner and hang the painting just above it and to the left of where the ladder is making it look like a two piece grouping?

I like Natalie's idea. I also think you could do a wide low bookcase and center the painting on that and have a table lamp on each side to balance it out. I think having the painting anchored over a piece of furniture would help so you could also choose a dresser, sideboard, etc. What is the purpose of this room? Living? Den?

The painting just needs to be anchored by something else in the room so it won't get lost. You could move it over to the right on the wall towards the corned and angle the chair by it. You could also add a very small accent table with a lamp. That will give the artwork a purpose.

Don't center the artwork on that wall, think of centering at the 1/3 position. The wall/room does need something else for balance; it could be additional art, a furnishing piece with vertical scale, a large plant, a display shelf unit, a floor lamp.

Do you have a smaller wall in the room to place the picture. Can you send another photo of the room?
