Kat, I've heard of Staghorn Sumacs and Staghorn ferns, but not willows. Are you sure its a willow?

Well.. The man who gave it to me last week. It was cutting and rooted, about 12in tall and the leaves are dark green and short curly leaves. He said.. it grows 25 feet tall. He said.. it is Staghorn Willow tree. I have never heard about it either..

ACK! Lucky you,I've been looking for that one. Never heard it called staghorn though. Lots of folk say curly willow when they mean corkscrew willow....the one w/ the twisty branches. I saw the curly(staghorn)willow on HGTV garden show w/ Kathy Reinwald(Gardener's Dairy/Journel?I can never keep them straight)and have wanted ever since.

Well PP.. Today I went to the Walmart and looked at a new magazine, Sunset gardening??? I spotted the picture of beautiful curly thick branches. It calls Bluish Rue (ruta graveloens) "Curly Girl". I got two cutting CorkScrew willow from trader last summer. Now it is rooted/grow in large pot and poke underground through winter. I see that both Staghorn and CorkScrew looks so different. Staghorn stem is very dark and thick. CorkScrew branches is thinner and color is more light. I have a NEW digital camera. I do not know how to post picture here!
