We had one at our house in Springfield. It was planted on the north side (right next to the fated jasmine:( ), but it was right out in as much sun as could be had on the north side of a not-particularly-large house. I'd say it got full sun. It had been there quite a few years when we moved there, and flowered quite happily.

Of course, you specify "dwarf". I don't know if ours was a dwarf or not, it was about 5 ft all around.

The flowers smell wonderful. I just love those little pink pom-poms!

The dwarf variety that I have grows up to 3' high and 2' wide, and the flowers are almost white (a very pale pink). I had thought about putting against the front of the house, facing west. But the front of the house is brick and I'm afraid the hot afternoon sun, and the additional warmth of the brick might 'cook it'.

My mother had hers on the North side of the house, also. I think the East side might be OK, but don't think I would try the South or West unless there was some light shade from a high limbed tree.
