Corn Meal Questions

I made my first-ever organic lawn application today. I've been wanting to go organic for the October feeding, but I've got some powdery mildew, so I put down some corn meal. I bought 100 lb of CM at Agway today, but when I opened the bag I was surprised at how finely ground the CM is. It's the texture of sawdust, almost powdery. The label says "fine corn meal". Is this what is normally used for lawns? I was expecting something a little more coarse. Is there coarse corn meal? This was actually a little hard to spread, because it was quite humid today and the meal had a tendency to cake up in the spreader.

Second question - does corn meal count as a fertilizer, or do I need to follow up with SBM? I ask because I see people discussing SBM, alfalfa, CGM, etc. as fertilizers, but corn meal only for fungus issues.
