Overwintering progress report

FYI, for all you northerners out there:

Last year I experimented with overwintering Cycads indoors, I have about 8 different varieties, and all were easy and survived quite well - the biggest problem was mealies on one of the plants, I just brought it outside and used a high pressure spray to wash the buggers off, and it worked! But Cycads are different from most palms in that they can be induced into dormancy by withholding water so their winter light requirements are minimal...

This winter I am trying Majesty, Cuban Royal, King Alexander, Triangle, P Roebellini and a Canary Isle Date indoors -

The Canary is in the garage, temps averaging between 38 and 50F, not much light, the plant so far looks just fine.

The others are near sunny windows, sprayed occasionally with soap water to prevent mites and mealies, watered somewhat sparingly, minimal fertilizer, room temperature. The Cuban Royal, King Alex, P. Roebellini and Triangle look just as good as when they were outdoors this summer, the Majesty has had some browning of older leaves, is definitely growing the quickest of the group, and the new fronds seem slightly smaller (not surprising), but it is doing well otherwise.

If anyone is interested, I can let you know how I'm faring with other tropical non-Palm species.
