Could you provide more details. Growing conditions, lighting, and temp. Are you trying to get them to fruit or would you not mind waiting? Can you post a pic?

chuckstoll:
Sounds like you started them indoors so that you can get a head start on outdoor growing in the summer. Well, It isn't really a problem that they are blooming. They are falling off because the conditions indoors are not conducive to setting fruit. Pollination is probably the issue. It could be light, nutrients or even temps but without the pollination conveyances present in the outdoors, your blooms are probably not getting pollinated. After a few days, they give up and drop off. I would not worry about it if the plants are destined for the garden or containers outdoors. They will continue to bloom until they finally do set a bunch of pods. Many times however, plants will stop blooming for a while after getting planted outside due to the transplant shock and shock of dealing with the outdoor elements...but eventually, they will kick into gear again and the blooms and eventually pods will come. So, if your plants are otherwise doing good, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep

What Bruce said.
If the young plants are indoors in small pots with less then ideal lighting and nutrients its quite common for those blossoms to drop off. Dont worry about it.

If and when ya get them planted in bigger pots or in the ground outdoors and/or under sufficient lighting with the proper nutrients, the plants will do just fine.

Ive had overwintered plants drop blooms all winter on my windowsill and also young plants in small pots under artificial lighting do the same. They kicked into high gear outside in ground during the grow season.

Jim

Ditto what Bruce and Jim said! Hey, gents, great to see you!

The plants will set pods when they're good and ready. Until then, dropping flowers
saves you the trouble of removing them.

Josh

The plants are under light for 16 hours a day the temperature is around 68, full spectrum flouresence, in 6" pots , I would post a pic but I seem to be having a problem with that. They are about 22" tall and look awesome. I have grown a number of other peppers that have produced peppers indoors and the only thing I did was go from flower to flower with a Q-tip to pollinate them. It sounds like it is no big deal and maybe I am concerned over nothing.

well, a little warmer might help but it could just be the variety of pepper is not prone to pollinating while indoors more than the others you have grown. If you plan to keep them indoors and expect them to eventually pollinate, you may be in for a rough road. If you plan to put them outside eventually, then I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks Bruce, Jim, Josh, and Habjolokia for your help as always
