It makes rich green leaves and helps the plant process fertilizers. Plants need magnesium, sulfur and micronutrients to grow well. These become depleated from soils over time and need to be replenished. Just a few tablespoons spread across the surface but not next to the stem will do about every 2 months in spring and early summer.

I had the same question. Also I just brought mine out of winter storage where they lost all their leaves. They only have small claws. Do they have to develop full leaves to start watering? Should the first watering be with the Epsom salts? I want everything to go right! Thanks, Joyce.

the trick is to go to the subject of posting and add (more) on the end for example on this one that is RE:Epson Salt make it RE:Epsom Salt (more) which will usually let you have another post or two in a row. Bill

Which way is better, adding the E/S in dry form, sprinkled around in the pot....or diluted in 1 gallon of warm water??

probably diluted in water but either way is fine. I sprinkle because of the quantity of pots and plants.

Hi Bill, I forgot if you said how often we should give Epsom Salt, I dissolved IT in the gallon of water and I have already given IT a couple of times, I hope I didn't make a "boo-boo"!

You only really need to give it to plants about every two months in the spring but it will not be a problem if you stop now. Magnesium moves very slowly in the soil and is used slowly by the plant. As your leaves come, give it fertilizer to stimulate growth. do not over do fertilizers as that is a common error. I think it is good every few months on late spring and summer to put a hose in your pot and let it run slowly so water flushes through the pot but not over the edges. This removes excess salts. then let it dry down. Use your cheap moisture meter to wait until the soil gets to dry again.

No one ans the direct question ..Can you or not use ES on new cuttings ?????

I don’t fertilize newly rooted cuttings with anything. You could try ES but most will likely not be absorbed. Can you elaborate on your plan and your situation?

I personally wouldn't use Epsom Salt On newly rooted cuttings. I'm sure they wouldn't have a magneisum defiency at that stage when establishing a root system. After you have a healthy cutting and you use the appropriate fertilizer with micro nutrients, you shouldn't need any extra Mg.
