I ordered Black Prince tomato seeds from a seed company and they turned out to be something else. I actually liked the imposter but I don't know what it is. I call it John's Late Paste because my friend liked it very well. That is not the first time on tomatoes. Some Pink Ping Pong tomatoes were yellow from Sandhill. I think there is a yellow form of PPP but that is not what I ordered. Yours sounds like crossed seed and not a mistake. If it is commercial seed, I would let them know. If it is traded or a gift, those are the chances you take.

Connie, I have not had that happen with purchased seed, but I've gotten bizarre things from saved seeds received in seed trades a few times.

I agree with Helen's suggestion that if it was purchased seed, you contact the seller to let them know that the seed they sent you was crossed. A reputable seller will send you replacement seed. Anyone who is producing seed to sell should be growing their seed in isolation to keep that sort of crossing from occurring.

I usually buy my tomatoes already started from Atwoods. Two years in a row now I bought what was labeled Cherry Tomatoes & got big tomatoes. I wish I knew what the ones this year actually are because of the 5 big tomatoes I planted, the imposter is doing the best. Lol! I still want a cherry, though. There's always next year, of course.

Are you saving seeds from the imposter? Tomatoes are easy to start from seed indoors and it helps mental health in the spring.
edit Matt's Wild Cherry is a very small tomato but once you have it, it comes back every year from seed. Millions came up this spring and then frost got them several times. A few made it and I have little tomatoes that I don't have to baby. I would not put them with your other tomatoes, make a place for them in an out of the way place. They do need sun and reasonable soil, but they replant themselves and I haven't watered mine this year.
