StoneMar, now why'd you have to go and rock the boat? :) Actually, the first one has a lot of appeal because of its subtlety. It appears more transitional where as the last one is more contemporary.

Sorry but I'm going to have to rock the boat too! These all blend very well with your counters, but I feel they are almost too light. You may like the lightness of everything in your kitchen and if so that's great, use what you love! But, just throwing it out there, I would use backsplash tile in a hue pulled from the darker specks in the counter (see attached image). I think this would really enhance your countertops.

If you could get the fourth mosaic in the color palette of the first, that would have my vote. I love the irregular rectangular mosaic tile, but not in that high contrast. It draws too much attention to itself and away from your granite. Otherwise my vote is for #1.

Light natural oak, or light like an ash stain? If natural oak definitely #1-even #3 could work. If ash, #4 or Susan's tile... All your options are exceptional so whatever you choose will be beautiful. Have fun making a decision...

I agree with Susan's comment above, a contrast to make the counters pop a bit would be nice. If you really want to stick with the marble, maybe a 1x3 or 2x4 subway-type marble tile?

I like the tile on the far right in the picture, (the 4th one), because it picks up and compliments the colors in cabinets and counter. It also adds contrast to your kitchen.

@pmjames: I'm so sorry you feel your Venetian Gold granite dates your kitchen! I wouldn't have expected that. I'm not by any means an expert, but I don't feel like I've seen so much Venetian gold or that it is so overwhelming a pattern that it would feel dated in that way. It has always seemed rather neutral and classic to me.

What is the countertop in this kitchen?

check out the photoshop I made of your kitchen with samples 1, 2 & 4. I like 2 the best. For me, 4 is too extreme with your granite, and 1 is too blah/dark. I think 2 pulls out the light in the cabinets, trim in the window, etc. and doesn't get lost blending with your granite. I am not one of those ppl that can visualize in my mind, so a crude photoshop will serve the purpose any day! Good luck!

LOL!!! #'s 4 & 2 do look better now than the "most voted" #1 because there is more contrast in 2-4... BUT remember this tile has not been grouted yet---and when it's grouted white, it will change considerably--Promise! Still going with #1... Peace Out!

How about something like #4, but if you could find something similar with a metallic grey to pick up on your SS appliances instead of the black? I found this one that might work - I like the organic variation in the glass.

I will go with the forth (far to the right) and with stainless steel appliances..

The first one seems to be the most well blended choice. If you don't love high contrast, I would go with that one. It's serene and calming.. probably also the most timeless!

Mybirdbites, love what you did with photoshop. I need to learn how to do that. Can you increase the tile up the back wall to see what it really would look like.

I like the 4th one over too but I like contemporary looks...if you don't care for contemporary I would agree with the person who added the other tile pic to bring out one of the darker colors in the counter as contrast. The other choices look to blendy and just safe...u want your kitchen to make a statement after all the time and money put into it

My vote would be for number 2. It picks up the cabinet and granite colors nicely.
