Me thinks it maybe rascally squirrels?
I have cute little oak trees sprouting
all over my yard from them burying acorns
(I've dug a few up to make Bonzai's).
Also could be raccoons? Maybe hunting for
grubs or bulbs? What to do? I have no
idea but I've heard of people sprinkling
cayenne pepper in the beds as a deterrent.

Well I discovered I have a "something" also. I planted Mescalin mix, tiny little sprouts emerging everywhere.
This morning I found they had all be walked on by something big. All the little roots were turned upside down. I tried to pat and cover it all will a little soil but I think they're gonners. I'm pretty sure it was someones dog or a cat. Errrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

When I seed lettuce, arugula, on anything easily disturbed by "garden visitors" I cover the planted area with a lightweight fabric row cover. I keep it in place until the seedlings are strong enough to be left alone. Sometimes I'll also 'erect' a short 'fence' made with nylon netting (the stuff you use to make tutus). Cats and squirrels don't usually bother jumping over it.
