Sunhocke propogation? Now?

I'm going to the house of these people I know for Halloween party, they garden, I have sunchokes, tubers had started to form 4 weeks ago when I checked.

Can/should I give them the tubers now? Will they be able to plant them and then they'll grow come Spring? Or do I have to wait until Spring? Will the tubers even still be there during spring?

this is in North NJ

Party is on the 27th, I'll be seeing them

The best time to plant Helianthus tuberosus / Jerusalem Artichokes is early spring. Are your tubers recent transplants or just still in the garden or what?

OK, so will the tubers still be there in SPring? My understanding is the tubers form in Autumn. Will they still be there for me to pick and give to people?

They will be if they don't rot. Damaged (cut, broken, bruised, etc) tubers are much more likely to rot when planted this time of year.

Animals also like to eat the tubers, so watch out for that.You might want to put so chicken wire over them for the winter.

I have had success with fall planting in my climate.
