Need help id'ing this

I planted this from seed, from a trade, and it was supposed to be a sweet bell pepper. Well, it's not...I possibly did not let it turn it's correct color while on the plant, but as I have no idea what it is, I went ahead and picked it. love the shape...and it smells HOT. They are not small peppers, but the size of my medium tomatoes in the background. Any ideas ? Thank you !
