How is the cooktop vented?

We have a similar layout in our kitchen. Currently, we have an electric range which is situated against an interior wall and has the master bedroom upstairs directly overhead. We'd like to replace it with a gas range with a fairly high BTU output, so our question is how would we vent it properly.
