Hi- I have certainly done it with grocery store miniatures, with no ill effects. I imagine dividing them does take its toll on the roots, and you'd want to be confident that they were in good shape before doing it, and make sure to give them some extra TLC after.

What type of rose is it? Are they basal breaks growing from beneath the soil or entirely separate rose plants? You can *carefully* remove the soil from the top of the pot until you see the place where the "separate starts" begin. Take a close look before you pull or cut anything apart.

Grocery store minis do tend to have more than one plant in the pot. I doubt Chamblees would frequently send multiple plants for one price.

Well, I just separated the first one. Seminole Wind aka
Rosarium Ueterson. There were two good sized plants. The canes were crossing each other badly, so I was either going to have to cut canes or separate. I'll keep it out of full sun for a couple days.

All of the gallon pots have two or three individual plants.

The David Austins have three plants each. I think Chamblee is sticking two or three cuttings in each pot, so the plant looks fuller with less handling time. I wonder if NOT separating them will cause competition problems later on.
