The Summer bare root experiment

This summer I took advantage of the sales and ordered a bunch of bare roots from several different online sites, both grafted and own root and even 3 potted. All arrived here this month (yeah June in Texas, hot) and I kept track of how long each was in transit, how they looked upon arrival, how long they were soaked in buckets, etc. Some I placed in ground, others have been potted to be placed in ground in the fall (should they survive the summer!). This is my test for future rose summer orders since I've never gardened before.

I thought I would post pics of how well they are doing, so far only 2 have not had any growth. They are 2 of the 3 Heritages I got from Parks (bare root grafted), one of them is doing fine. They cost $3.89 each so I figure out of 15 Austins I'm not doing so bad.

Teasing Georgia #1

Jubilee Celebration #1, she looks droopy at the end of the day. I think it's because it's been raining and she drowning.

The 3 potted Chianti's I got from Ashdown. They were in transit for awhile and got bs. I pulled all the bad leaves, sprayed and 5 days later there's almost no bs. Nice!

BTW they're in buckets because they are so tall the wind knocks them over. I'm going to be repotting them in 5 gallon pots before this fall so they don't get claustrophobic. Please excuse the boxer butt, I didn't even notice until after I down loaded the pic.
