You should be able to. I just got some daffy seeds from a local alpine garden club. Mind you, with the hybrids, the results probably won't resemble the parents. But, hey, you get free seeds, so why complain? :)

Exactly! These are popping through from the neighbors yard. So now I wait for the flower to die and then I attack. lol These have been there for many years. Not sure if I can ever find out the type, but I may give it a try.

Daffies and tulips produce bloated pods when they are producing seeds (I suspect crocuses also), and they should start to split open from the top when they are ready, so you don't really need to hurry that much to get the seeds.

I've never collected daffy or crocus seeds myself, but I've tried with tulips, but the seeds were still green and not ready when the pod split for some reason, so that was a disappointment. They looked like lily seeds, though, in case you need to know, flat and in layers in the pod. I suspect they turn pale brown, like lilies when they are ready.
