Citrus are another plant I use the grounds on. Stop in
at Starbucks and they will give them to you.

I use coffee grounds from Starbucks throughout my garden. I scatter the grounds everywhere as well as in my compost bin.

I too grab the used-grounds bags at STARBUCKS-- if I can beat the big guys to them. There is a commercial outfit that is going around to all the Starbucks taking all their extra grounds so there's nothing left for the little guy. I complained most loudly to my local Starbucks and they gave me the BIG bag they had been saving for the commercial guy. Now I'm seeing the big coffee bags back in the tub by the door for anyone to take. I guess it pays to complain.

I like my grounds mixed with something like leaf mold or other organic matter, or it can get clumpy mixed with my clay soils, but I use all my french press leavings in the yard. The veggies love it too. I like the increased availability of dried chocolate husks as a mulch too - I can get sections of the yard to smell like a roastery.

No Starbucks but I produce quite a few coffee grounds of my own - I've heard they're supposed to deter slugs, too; any info on this?

Coffee grounds used as a mulch in potted plant it does help control fungus gnats in a conservatory.I can cake up too. If used with other things like egg shells coarse sand that will help preven the caking up problem.I don't know how it does with the snail situation. It is supposed to keep cats out of your garden too but that has not been my experience. Do you use your tea leaves also? The coffee adds nitrogen to the soil.Itis great for compost or just feeding plants. The other thing you can do is add them to your potting mix.
