Square Foot Gardening

double or single cardboard

I am finally going to go and get the material to build my garden beds and I have been reading around and I notice that some people put cardboard under the frames. I intend to do the same, but I was wondering if I should be a single layer of cardboard, or double? Which do you think is better?

A single layer should do the job just fine, but if you're not sure about it, then go with 2. It won't really make a difference and it will eventually decompose after smothering all the growth underneath it anyway.

I would do 2, just so there's no chance of weeds coming up through it.

Do 2 layers of the thick corrugated stuff if you can get it. I did this and had nothing pop up through my SQF bed.
