I think you'll have to go down to the las cruces area to find larger specimens. From what I've read here in the forums they are much more likely to weather our winters. Most posters here indicate that they protect them with blankets etc during the coldest months.

A 1-gallon size may be tough. Ideally in ABQ, it is better to start with at least a 5-gallon, even better a 10-gallon. You COULD do a 1-gallon, but make sure it is planted in the sunniest, warmest spot of the yard for winter (ideally facing south and/or west and perhaps against a south/west facing wall)...and provide it plenty of good winter protection once temps start regularly dropping below 50 degrees overnight.

abqpalms----I think I saw some of your pics on webshots, do you have any new pics? I posted some of mine, just look under albuquerque palm trees on webshots and it should bring them up.
