I would have followed the guide, but I couldn't resist filling every square as soon as the frost went away and now I couldn't plant anything else even if I wanted to. Unless I make another box.......

ezz; As a life long gardener I found Mel's book quite handy It was nice to have the info in one spot. Now of course they are just a guideline that must be adjusted for the zone, parallel and cultivar. So I use it as a general guide more so for fall gardening. I at all times have some plants started and waiting on my patio table for transplanting into a harvested square or to replace a plant doing poorly. I love Square foot don"t You?

Thank you so much, I had some one from my county extension tell me that I would need to build 3 to 6 more beds (I currently have 3 in progress of growing stuff) so that I can have the extra squares available for the next round of plants. I was thinking that if you start them in time for the first crop to be harvested, you can throw in some compost in the square and add the transplants. I was in shock when I heard another 3-6 beds!
