Need to create curb appeal on 1957 Ranch

We have a 1957 "ranch" with a second floor added many years ago. We would like to update it and would appreciate any thoughts on color palettes, how to work with the yellow brick (or paint it), and how to handle the octagon windows which lead to a clothes closet.
We need to replace siding, front entry door, and maybe windows.
Any thoughts would be welcomed!
