I have twelve deer at least that roam my property. I have spent 20k plus on landscaping. Most of it is gone now because of the deer. There is a neighbor hood nearby that seem to survive the deer. I don't get it, I have tried everything except a dog.

The deer are beautiful animals, but they are just rats with hooves to me. I would love to have beautiful approach to the house but I have struggled so much with those varmints, I just need help. Ironically I work at a very large nursery, I have asked everyone.

You might browse websites for plants in your area, normally they list if plants are deer and/or rabbit resistant. My favorite is highcountrygardens.com, then go find the plants in your nursery. If nothing else, take a nice stroll through that neighborhood and chances are I bet they'll tell you what plants work, people love to talk about their passion! As a Park Ranger, I also look at native species plants, they've been living with deer all this time and still going strong.

try getting dried blood from your local nursery or even home depot. it sounds gross but mix it up and spray it on like fertilizer. the deer hate it

Along with the flowers previously suggested, try mint and chilli pepper borders. Deer do not seem to like the nice fragrant smelling plants. The crows and other carniverous birds may take a liking to the blood meal.

I have had great success having flowers that bloom through the growing season even with deer in my yard. Try daffodils, peonies, nepeta , ornamental grasses, campanula, irises, lambs ears, coreopsis, lemon balm, monarda.
DON'T plant tulips, hosta, day lilies, zinnias, impatiens. These are deer food for sure.
