Real quick thoughts--buy larger pillows or add fringe, expand the ocean view by lengthening the draperies and have rods touch just under the ceiling beams (you could add another color to the bottom hem). TV on large wood cupboard etc where you have small pictures. I assume the ocean view is where the patio doors are so focus the couches so they face the beautiful view not the wall.
Use Large pictures and accessories. You have the luxury of a large room take advantage of it. Have and make it fun. Oops use large-highback chairs at kitchen table w/ print fabric for seats and backs.

I like your layout. I can see the TV mounted on the wall where the two ladderback chairs are now. That would be a good places for a built in cabinet. I like the red on the wone wall and would paint theother walls a medium tone blue.

Do you have room for back to back sofas? One to face the ocean and one to face the t v which could be on the wall next to kitchen bar.

Judy, you gave me a great idea about the curtains. I will try that. Do you mean the chairs at the kitchen counter? I also have a tv plug on the large wall. I am thinking of installing a large mantle made out of a piece of chunky, aged wood to add a little character. I shall add bigger cuchions.
The idea of back to back sofas might work. I am certainly going to try this out. I like that idea. Thank you all for helping me find solutions. It was difficult enough having the place built but totally ran out of ideas for the interior. I just dont know how to put things together!

very nice....it reminds me of a spanish style home...a bookcase would work on any wall. .the red/pink does not compliment the floor...also, the furniture looks a bit outdated or more country than spanish style, you could also try a fabric on the wall instead of a painting/art. the fixture hanging is amazing, can you add a similar one? i would take advantage of the height. a carpet can help start you out in terms of layout of your furniture...longer curtains is nice,( someone else said this) i think rought iron furniture or wicker would be nice....hope this helps, please send a after picture

Lovely room and I love the beams. Why don't you pick a color theme as illustrated with the white and grey in the photo jugyg attached and work toward balancing the room? The white table is not a good counterbalance to the weightiness of the beams above. Consider painting it chocolate or black.Take that same color to the bar and barstools and the big coffee table. The beams are stealing all the attention, and the room is not making an equally important statement. It looks a little too beachy with the pastels from the kitchen curtain and rug spread around the area. I too lean toward a Spanish feeling, so search the box above for "Spanish interior," Spanish living room," "Spanish dining room" or "Spanish kitchen" to get some ideas you can run with. I like the two light fixtures but they are too high and the one over the diining table would look better if centered over the table. They don't look as though the would give much light, so if you find some nice Spanish style ones consider reworking that aspect of the room. Perhaps you can use the two you have in another room. What does the entry look like, and does it need to follow this room's theme? You should have a lovely place for your permanent residence. Post as you go - we'd love to see what you're doing!
