Not to be missed is the Nitobe Japanese garden on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. There's also a botanical garden nearby. And while you are there, be sure to stop at the anthropology museum also on the campus. There's a hall of totems that is absolutely astounding.

Butchart Gardens is a real eye opener with it's many,thousands,of bright flowers.

Queen Elizabeth Park is worthwhile with it''s breathtaking sunken garden.

Not quite on the subject but the Vancouver Public Aquarium is a must see. Just remember that taxis do not pick up at the Aquarium unless called-up.
