For me, the ultimate in shade lovers is Cacao. Most Garcinias like some shade. Or, how about a dragon fruit trellis?

I have one mango tree that I planted a few feet from the front of the house in June '07. I didn't realize when I planted it that the spot didn't get any sun starting in late Dec. through Feb. It does get appx. 5-6 hours in summer like your spot. I didn't move it since I didn't have another place I wanted to put it, so I decided to leave it there and see what happens. Well, I guess it was okay since it flowered twice, but the freeze "nailed" it every time. I like the spot because it has a little more shelter in the winter time. I know its not the "ideal" spot for it but I guess 5-6 hours of sun for at least 9 months a year is enough for mango to bloom. I also figured once the tree gets taller I think it will be able to get some sun in those months...assuming it doesn't get nailed again by the next freeze,lol...

i planted my atemoya and sugar apple about 10 feet from the north side of my one story house. the canopys definitely receive sun.

hard to tell without pictures but it sounds like you could probably get away with planting alot there, the tree will naturally grow towards where it gets sunlight so the canopy will eventually grow around the shade of the structure, its other trees that usually shade and inhibit smaller trees growth.
