My answer to your poll is No. With proper caged support and spacing of plants there is no benefit to removing what are called "suckers" unless you have disease problems. All it accomplishes is to stress the plant and decrease production. The old wives tales that they never produce fruit and they 'suck' energy from the plant are not true.

On the other side of the coin, if you only use stakes and you plant very closely and you want to limit the plant to only 1 main stem for some reason, then yes you will have to prune the plant and you will lose production based on the amount of pruning you do.
