Lychee New Leaves Turning Brown

Dear all,

I bought a Sweetheart lychee from Top---Tropical about one month ago. The plant shows a lot new grows. However, the tips of many new leaves are turning brown. Before the new flushes came out (two weeks ago), I used D-y-n-a-- Foliage (9-3-6) fertilizer. I mixed 1 tsb per gallon of water. The plant is growing in Al 5-1-1 mix.
This is the first time I ever grow a lychee in container. Therefore, I am not sure what causing new leaves having brown tip. Could it be the fertilizer, wind, sun burn, or something else? Any advise to help my lychee stay healthy is greatly appreciated.

    New flushes of Lychee trees are very sensitive to all of the above you mentioned. Fertilizer burn, wind (over 15mph) and very hot sun (temps above 100) they might need some afternoon protection...95degrees and below should be okay...they are more susceptible to these factors when they are in pots as opposed to be planted in the ground.

    I have a small Lychee in a pot that is exhibiting the same symptoms as yours...too windy, and a little too much fertilizer is causing it is my best guess.

    My inground lychee tree ( I built a wind protection structure for and kept it on for the first 2 years) handles the fertilizer a lot better and has very little tip burn like my Potted one...

    If I were you I would use less fertilizer the next time you apply it...Try 1/2 tsp of DG 9-3-6 per gallon of water. Move the pot if possible to a less windy spot...Direct sun is fine as they need it to grow well...Good luck!!
