You can see examples of ripe Sugar Apples in the thread here titled "thought I would share some current pics."

The fruit gets an inner glow that shows around the edges of the bumps/segments. It is easy to see in the second photo. That variety is red (Kampong Mauve) but the green and golden ones do the same thing.

Thanks for all this information and the pictures. Mine are not ripe yet. I've only had the tree three years and I've got several fruit on it so I'm quite pleased. I've also got lemons on my Sanbokan lemon tree.

I had one and ignored the signs that Lisa described above. I thought...one more day. I came home from work to find half of the sections of the fruit just fell away from the rest! So part of the fruit was still on the tree while the rest was splatted on the gravel below. You all can just figure out for yourselves whether or not I picked up the sections from the gravel and ate them.

Lisa...your KM is absolutely beautiful. I've tried twice now with no success to graft cuttings onto my Thai sugar apples.

i also have a soursop tree. i always wondered if i cross pollinate them if their seedlings would come out hybridized or true to type
