    Dear Keiki,
I don't have any seeds to trade, but I would love some red sugar apple seeds. If you can't find anyone who will trade with you, let me know and maybe I can buy a few. Do yo know what variety they are? I have been dying to get some sugar apple seeds, but most people that I trust to get them from, are out and I only have a month tops to aqcuire some this year, or I will have to wait to May, when temps are warm enough again. This fruit is what I am trying to add to my collection now. Do you really like the fruit? What is the texture like? Right now, I have a Green Caimito, a Dwarf Keyime, a dwarf Moro Blood Orange, a Cogshall Mango, a Pineapple, and a seed grown Avocado. This would be my last addition.

Andrew sugar apples are great sweet treats. I love the red both for the look and flavor. It is hard to describe but easy to eat. I have had a lot of requests for trades so I am going to have to pass on doing the sase at this time.

I learned that Red Sugar Apples don't grow from seed. Check my post on germinating Sour sop and Sugar Apple seeds.

They should do just fine from seeds. I've grown green SA, Red (Kampong Mauve) and Golden SA. They all are easy to grow from seeds, fast, early to fruit and tough as nails! They survive lots of abuse and neglect, and still fruit heavily.

This family of fruiting trees are a pleasure! They do not need any coddling or special care at all.

They took our freeze that killed most of my other tropicals, well, and all survived.

    Hey Lisa,
Did you see my germinating soursop and sugar apple seeds? Someone from FL said that the seeds were grown in a nursery annd the nursery cut the tops off to make people think they were grafted. When the trees fruited the fruit was regular green fruit. Hmmmm, maybe I will give it a try.

as far as i know all anonas come true to type. there may be slight variations like the seed count and such but from my knowledge for the most part all anonas grow true from seed.

i can see how a specific trait like color might have to be grafted though. red kampong mauve are considered "rare" so i can believe it if it has to be grafted.

Annonas do not all come true to type. You could plant some seeds and get similar fruit but you would never be able to call that plant by the cultivar name in which you got the seeds from. The variation in plants from seed vary and you might get something very different depending on what annona it was pollinated with. If you ever by a named cultivar somewhere it has to be grafted otherwise you dont know what youre truly getting.

Andrew, If you plant those seeds you might get something close to KM but never know. It's worth experimenting because you might also get something better.

i have soursop, 48/26 atemoya, kampong mauve (yes grafted) and a rollinia all in close proximity.

    their seedlings should be interesting.

    Hey boom1,

What do you think of the Rollinia? Have you gotten any fruit off of your tree yet? Do you have any seeds from your Kampong you'd be willing to part with? Talk to you soon!
