My husband and I bought a NYC apartment that needed some work. we renovated the entire apartment and gutted the kitchen completely.

Kitchen: I wanted a modern kitchen with some traditional elements. We combined modern cabinets, floor and counter with more traditional wall tiles. We also focused on lighting. We took down walls to give the kitchen an open feel that opened up to the rest of the apartment.

Bathroom: We didn't gut the entire bathroom- but we did replace the floors, vanity, toilet and added some new tiles. We kept the tub as it was when we bought it. We also added a new shower door.

Living Space-- We sanded and restained the floors a dark wood color. We also bumped out one of the walls to divide the TV room with the rest of the apartment. We hired an electrician to add high hat lighting. We also removed some closets to make the apartment feel more open.

Dining Room: We removed a closet from the dining room to make it feel open with the kitchen. but we added a closet elsewhere in the dining room so that we didn't lose closet space. We added molding to the main wall in the living room to give it a traditional look.
